Search

The Search tab (Inventory > Search) allows you to search for nodes and files across your Cloudhouse Guardian (Guardian) instance, by filtering according to Scan Results or File Contents. Using the search bar, you can enter a search query that defines key attributes related to the content you want to find. Then, Guardian will search the database and return all results that match the attributes defined in your query. This topic describes how to use the search filter options to locate nodes and file contents, export the search results, and analyze the results. Depending on what you are searching for, the display results will vary.

Using the search bar, you can enter key words to locate nodes and configuration items that meet the stipulated search query. Additionally, there are several filters you can apply to narrow down your results.

To search for nodes and files across your Guardian instance, complete the following steps:

  1. In the Guardian web application, navigate to the Search tab (Inventory > Search).
  2. In the search bar, enter the identifying information or key words that will help Guardian locate the nodes or files you are looking for. For example, 'system' or 'Linux'.

Note: You must enter a term that contains at least three characters. If you don't, the following error message is displayed: 'Please enter 3 or more characters to search'.

  3. Use the drop-down options to filter your results. If you don't want to select any filter options, you can skip this step.

Warning: If you don't select any filters, the Scan Results search option is used by default. Meaning, results are sourced from the scanned nodes in the Monitored tab (Inventory > Monitored). If you want to search within files, you need to select File Contents from the Search Option drop-down list.
